Map Build Process
We build our data following MapmyIndia proprietary specifications that are conceptualised, designed and developed to suit Indian road conditions and addressing system.

Team of over 200 field researchers since 1997 have been traveling across different regions of the country each day, continually driving and redriving the roads, and collecting map data that more closely reflects real Indian conditions. These data are continually supplemented by phone calls and other desk research tools of MapmyIndia for validation and value addition.

We collect road attributes on each section of road, and are adding millions of Points of Interest falling under 52 different categories to our database.

Our deep understanding of Indian geography and addresses contribute to the development of groundbreaking and unparalleled products, tools, services and processes.

  1. Source Acquisition
    • Private/Public Data Sources - We obtain maps, charts and imagery that give us the basic information of national and city geometry.
    • Field Data Collection - Over 250 trained field researchers travel through the Indian roads using GPS and following standard processes to collect different kinds of data attributes.
  2. Digitization and Geometry Creation
    • Digitizing the sources materials - We digitize the various source material to prepare the base map database.
    • We update geometry by bringing together the source material, field data, and regional knowledge.
  3. Geocoding and Attribute addition
    • We augment our map database with Points of Interests, Businesses, postal codes, various navigation attributes and other data.
  4. Data Validation
    • Ongoing update processes that lead the field team to re-drive through various roads of the country ensures accuracy.
    • Our services to businesses for their decision support systems play a big role in cost-effective validation of our map databases.
